Our Work in Tanzania Africa
Mwanza City, Igoma Village- Children’s Home Support 2008 Our Funding for the entire year was $5,500 for Home Support.
In 2008, ACTS Worldwide supported this home on a monthly basis and all operational costs.
The Igoma Children’s home is housed with 25 orphaned children who have lost their parents due to AIDS or sickness and disease; can no longer care for them or they have no place to go. The home is staffed with loving Christian caretakers who care for the needs of the children, and ensure they are growing in the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. The home is operated under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Kitula of Pentecostal Evangelical Mission (PEM) in Tanzania.
Mwanza City, Igoma Village- Children’s Education Support 2008 Our Funding for the entire year was $14,500 for Education.
In 2008, we funded the support of 46 orphans Education. (Costs include tuition, books, exercise, transportation, uniforms, and pocket money. Some children lived at boarding school and all fees were for year round.) Each child attended local primary or secondary school and received real hope for their future. This was a life altering experience for these children.
ACTS Drilled Two Deep Water Wells in Mwanza, Tanzania in 2007. $25,000 was funded to drill these two deep wells.
In Tanzania, our Director, Pastor Samuel Kitula, owns 50 acres of land outside of the major city of Mwanza in a remote village area. He and his wife, Ruth, inherited this land by Ruth's father, who gave them the land in hopes that someday the land would be used for purposes of helping others and that is exactly their hope and vision for this land.
This land is ripe and plentiful, ready for harvest. The land has been tested and is prime for harvesting fruits and vegetables, which is now happening and this water made that possible!
Surrounding this land is a local village, which makes up roughly 500 families. Many of these families have no fresh water and walk for miles a day to find a water source, which is generally not a fresh water supply.
These deep water wells provide much needed water and will most definitely eliminate many of the water borne diseases infecting small children and causing many unnecessary deaths.
The first deep well was dug for the purpose of a fish breeding center, agricultural development and for fresh water source to local villagers.
The second deep well was to provide water for over 500 families in local villages where there was no clean water source, and for the purpose of agricultural development projects.
We received many reports of salvations, because people came to the well to receive water and this act of mercy that was done in the name of Jesus caused people’s hearts to come into the understanding of a merciful and loving God.
ACTS Agricultural Development- Fish Hatchery in Mwanza, Tanzania in 2007. $9,000 was funded to dig pond and supply with first fish for breeding.
We funded the construction and digging of the fish pond, which is located in Mwanza city, near Igoma village. One of the water wells that we dug is located at this site and is the water source that pumps fresh water into the pond for this agricultural project. This is one of the micro-enterprise businesses that will provide fresh fish for the children. The fish will also be sold to the local community. A portion of profits will be a source of income for the local children’s home and contribute to monthly operating expenses.
ACTS Micro-Enterprises in Mwanza, Tanzania in 2008.
$3,200 funded 9 Small Businesses.
We funded 9 small businesses for either expansion of existing business or the creation of new ones. We received amazing testimonies about how these small loans not only affected these individual lives, but whole villages. Because these people were able to make income and profit they created new jobs in the community, provided much needed service and resource in markets, and were able to give back to support children in need in their communities.
